Switch 2 Console Launches Premiere System Upgrade Packed with Handy Additions

The Switch 2 has gotten its premiere system upgrade, version 21.0.0, and although it lacks anything totally revolutionary, there are plenty of convenience improvements to be looking forward to.

Fresh Software Symbols Offer Clear Identification

One of the prominent improvements involves fresh symbols that show over a software cartridge, identifying whether that software is an original Nintendo Switch edition, updated model, or downloadable edition.

This feature has been favorably regarded by users, with many commending it as a "thoughtful addition" that helps make the UI seem more interactive.

Improved User Discovery and Voice Chat Options

When searching for players to add as a friend, the Search for Users You’ve Played With option under Connect with Others now includes users you've communicated with in your friends’ GameChat rooms.

With respect to voice communication, multiple improvements are introduced:

  • The title won't enter sleep mode on its own during conversations.
  • An option to turn off “Chat Audio Panning” has been included.
  • Communication can continue if the console transitions from connected mode to on-the-go or stand mode, including when this situation leads to the internet switching from a wired link to a wireless one.

Simplified Content Acquisition and Input Device Audio Modes

When downloading several games at once, you now have the option to cancel them all with a single tap.

With premium controller owners, a new fast-response audio mode has been added, allowing you to select between “Stable” or “Low Latency” modes.

Faster Audio lowers audio latency compared to “Stable” but might be more prone to problems in certain untethered setups.

Virtual Game Card Information Installation Enhancement

Another notable update enables you to download content for a downloadable software whether or not the “Use Online License” option is disabled.

This feature is available in the Options of a digital title when opened via Downloadable Content from the console interface.

Additional System Enhancements

Apart from these major changes, the patch includes various further enhancements:

  • Accessibility changes: Audio narration can vocalize predictive conversion symbols on the Japanese keyboard, and the Text-to-Speech Speed upper limit was increased from three hundred percent to 400%.
  • Visual options: High Dynamic Range was renamed to “System Screen’s HDR Output,” and screen size adjustment is more straightforward to adjust.
  • Notifications updates: The feature "Platinum Point Notification” was renamed to "Nintendo Switch Online Notification."
  • Device features: Battery management offers “Stop Charging Around 80-90%” instead of the former “Stop Charging Around 90%” setting.
  • Language support: Thailand's language and Poland's language have been introduced to the list of available languages, but they are only usable in games that offer the corresponding locale.
  • General performance improvements to enhance the user's experience.

The software patch marks a notable advancement for the Nintendo Switch 2, offering a range of practical enhancements that refine the overall gaming experience.
